Update of LYRA level2

The calibration of LYRA data (level 2) has been updated on December 31 2016 00:00:00 to take into account new information about the evolution of dark current, as well as the result of the last calibration campaigns. This update currently results in a small amplitude jump in the timeseries. This jump should disappear the next time the data will be reprocessed, in a few months.

PROBA2 Partial Eclipse Observations - 13-Jul-2018 and 11-Aug-2018

Two partial solar eclipses will be visible this summer: one on 2018 July 13 and another on 2018 August 11.

The majority of the eclipse in July will take place over the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and a very small fraction above the southern Australia.

PROBA2 Science Working Team Meeting 16

The PROBA2 team is pleased to announce the 16th PROBA2 Science Working Team (SWT) meeting, which will be held on Monday August 6, 2018 at Royal Observatory of Belgium, between 15:30 - 17:30 local time (i.e. CET+1).

As with most of our SWT meetings, we will present the usual mission status presentations and then we will have guest speakers present interesting science based on LYRA and SWAP measurements.

SWAP and LYRA data gaps on May 6, 2018

The SWAP and LYRA instruments were turned off during the morning of May 6, 2018 due to a scheduled maintenance of the PROBA2 spacecraft.

LYRA and SWAP stopped acquiring data around 23:40 UT on May 5 and resumed their normal operations around 05:50 UT on May 7, after a successful completion of all maintenance tasks.

PROBA2 Partial Eclipse Observations - 15-Feb-2018

A partial solar eclipse was visible on 2018 February 15, in the southern part of South America, including many locations in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, as well as in Antarctica. The eclipse was visible from some areas of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans as well.

SWAP and LYRA data gaps

On Friday December 8, an unexpected reboot of the PROBA2 spacecraft occurred. This caused the LYRA and SWAP instruments to turn off, leading to a gap in their data flow.

The LYRA operations were restarted successfully on the next day and the instrument has been delivering measurements since 18:53 UT on December 9.

PROBA2 Science Working Team Meeting 15

The PROBA2 team is pleased to announce the 15th PROBA2 Science Working Team (SWT) meeting, which will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2017 from 13:00 to 14:30 central european time at the European Space Weather Week. The meeting will be held in the Stijnen room, where a small lunch is being offered.

Release of a new LYRA product: O+N₂ Earth atmosphere number densities

The PROBA2 team is happy to announce the release of a new data product: the Earth atmosphere O+N2 number density profiles. These profiles are derived from solar occultation measurements by LYRA and are available at /lyra/data/EarthAtmosphere/. They are produced daily from beginning of December till end of January and are based on the backup unit (unit 3) measurements to limit the impact of instrumental degradation.
